Volunteer: Online CERT Training (STEP 1)

Online Training

The first step of getting involved with Culver City CERT is to complete an online CERT course provided by the University of Utah which will provide you an overview of the skills and training required to become a CERT member. You may take this course on your own time, and it can typically be completed in approximately 12 hours. Your progress is saved as you complete each module so you may leave and return to the lessons.

4. Upload your Online CERT Lecture Completion Certificate (or your CERT certificate if you are a returning CERT member) and click "Submit Qualifications".

If you are unable to locate your online certificate, you can find it under your University of Utah account:

Returning CERT Members: If you cannot locate your certificate, email us at CulverCityCERT@culvercity.org

5. Click "Respond" one last time to finalize your waitlist submission.

In-Person Training

CERT in-person training is typically conducted twice per year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Below are instructions on what to wear and bring with you to the class. Signing up for this opportunity will put you on the notification list for the next class. Notifications are typically sent out a few months prior to the class taking place. The Culver City Fire Department will contact each waitlist member to confirm RSVPs for upcoming classes approximately one month before the course date.


UPCOMING CLASS DATES

*You must attend both dates within a session, classes are expected to run 8AM-5PM on both days.*

Spring and Fall 2026 dates will be released soon!

Classes are limited to ~25 people, enroll now to RSVP!


What to Wear

Closed toed shoes (tennis shoes are okay)

Pants (no shorts)

Shirts can be either long or short-sleeved.

If you have long hair, please wear hair ties.


What to Bring

Leather Palm Gloves

Safety Goggles

N95/Face Mask

Knee Pads (not required but highly recommended)

Water & Snacks (No nearby eating locations)

Hat

Sunblock/Sunscreen
